Picks a Catholic Running Mate with Long Pro-Abortion Record
Saturday, August 23, 2008
By
Terence P.
Jeffrey, Editor-in-Chief
(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Joe Biden of
Delaware, Sen. Barack Obama’s choice for his vice presidential running
mate, is a Roman Catholic with a long record of supporting pro-abortion
causes and legislation.
Biden did repeatedly support enactment of the Partial-Birth Abortion
Ban, but when the ban came up for a Senate vote in 1999 he voted for an
amendment by Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) that said the Supreme Court had
acted correctly in its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that declared abortion
a constitutional right.
Biden has never wavered in defending Roe.
At a Democratic presidential primary debate in Las Vegas last November,
he said that if he were elected president he would impose a pro-Roe test
on anyone he appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
“I would not appoint anyone who did not understand that Section 5 of the
14th Amendment and the Liberty Clause of the 14th Amendment provided a
right to privacy,” Biden said. “That's the question I'd ask them. If
that is answered correctly, that that is the case, then it answers the
question, which means they would support Roe v. Wade."

Obama's Christian Creds Vs. Abortion and
Infanticide
By
Kyle-Anne Shiver
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/08/obamas_christian_creds_vs_abor.html
"Throughout my career, I've been a consistent and
strong supporter of reproductive justice, and have consistently had
a 100% pro-choice rating with Planned Parenthood and NARAL
Pro-Choice America."
-Barack Obama,
Statement on 35th
Anniversary of Roe v. Wade Decision
If there is one issue, upon which Barack Obama has been
willing to take a front-and-center political stand, it is on abortion
and, yes, even infanticide. On this issue, amidst his many other
flip-flops, Barack Obama has been consistent.
And really, is it any wonder that Barack, father of
daughters, supports completely unfettered abortion?
Isn't this absolutely consistent with his
highly-touted Christian faith?
Last March, at a townhall meeting in Pennsylvania, Obama explained his
position perfectly:
I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years
old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals.
But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with
a baby. (emphasis mine)
This, "I don't want them punished with a baby,"
is perhaps the most self-revelatory statement Barack Obama has uttered
in public since he began his campaign for the Presidency. It goes far
beyond Bill Clinton's, "Let's keep abortion safe, legal and rare."
It goes far beyond the "I personally object, but must allow choice in a
pluralistic society" stand of both John Kerry and Hillary Clinton.

Obama's Abortion Bombshell: Unrestricted
Abortion Over Wishes of Individual States a Priority for Presidency
By Peter J. Smith
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 10, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com)
- Barack Obama, the presumptive pro-abortion nominee of the Democratic
Party, has plans to reward the allies that helped him topple Hillary Clinton
from her throne by making total unrestricted abortion in the United States
his number one priority as president.
... "The first thing I'd do as president is sign
the Freedom of Choice Act," Obama said in his July speech to abortion
advocates worried about the increase of pro-life legislation at the state
level.
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is legislation
Obama has co-sponsored along with 18 other senators that would annihilate
every single state law limiting or regulating abortion, including the
federal ban on partial birth abortion.

Obama vs. The Right to Life
National Catholic Register
May 18-24, 2008 Issue | Posted

It’s important for Americans to know exactly
where Barack Obama stands on abortion, because abortion is more
than just a "Catholic issue." It's one of the fundamental issues
Americans should be most concerned about.
The United States was founded on the rights to
“life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” and Americans have
spent the past two centuries since trying to live up to those
founding principles. First came disagreements over the pursuit
of happiness — religious and economic liberty. Then, over
slavery. Today’s big battle is over the most important right:
the right to life.
Obama’s votes and official positions deny the
right to life to three categories of human beings: the unborn,
the “accidentally” born and, at least in one case, the adult
“unfit.” Let’s look at each.

Barack Obama: My Pro-Abortion Views Can Appeal to Evangelical Voters
by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
January 24, 2008
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Democratic presidential
candidate Barack Obama gave a recent interview to Christianity Today
magazine and said he wants to do more than previous Democratic
candidates in pursuing evangelical voters. But when told his
pro-abortion views are a turnoff to pro-life advocates, Obama was
unapologetic in his defense of unlimited abortion.
He
said part of his job as a presidential candidate is to "reach out" to
evangelical voters.
"Evangelicals have come to believe often times that Democrats are
anti-faith," Obama said in the interview. "Hopefully we can build some
bridges that can allow us to move the country forward."
Apparently, not when it comes to abortion.
CT
editors told Obama that, "For many evangelicals, abortion is a key, if
not the key factor in their vote."
"You voted against banning partial birth abortion and voted against
notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. What role do
you think the President should play in creating national abortion
policies?" they asked the Illinois senator.

Polls Show Barack Obama Fares Better With Pro-Life Voters Than Hillary Clinton
Washington,
DC (LifeNews.com) -- New polling data in key presidential battleground
states shows a potential problem for the pro-life movement should Barack
Obama win the Democratic nomination. Current polling data shows Obama faring
better among pro-life voters than Hillary Clinton, though both strongly
support abortion. In addition to the surge Obama has experienced lately,
he’s a relatively unknown candidate when it comes to his specific stance on
the issues. While Clinton is a known commodity and her pro-abortion position
is well-established, most voters may not know that Obama wants all abortions
to remain legal and will appoint judges who will keep abortions legal
another 35 years. Recent polls in three key states show Obama does better
with pro-life voters. Looking at Wisconsin, in the Clinton matchup, McCain
gets 65 percent of the pro-life vote while 27 percent of pro-life advocates
support Clinton and 8 percent are undecided. In a potential contest against
Obama, 60 percent of pro-life voters go with McCain while 32 percent back
Obama and 8 percent are undecided. The change from a 38 percent advantage
among pro-life voters versus Clinton compared with a 28 percent advantage
against Obama likely means pro-life groups need to do more to educate voters
that Obama takes as strong a pro-abortion position as Clinton. The same
disparity appears in Virginia and Iowa.

Barack Obama Launches 2008 Candidacy With Pro-Abortion Record
by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
February 11, 2007
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Senator Barack Obama, an Illinois
Democrat, officially launched his presidential bid on Saturday
attempting to link himself to Abraham Lincoln. Obama made his
announcement in the Illinois State capital, where Lincoln got his own
political start.
Lincoln launched his own presidential campaign during a time of war when
detractors said he was too inexperienced
"[I]n the shadow of the Old State Capitol, where Lincoln once called on
a house divided to stand together, where common hopes and common dreams
still live, I stand before you today to announce my candidacy for
President of the United States of America," he told a cheering crowd.
However, unlike Lincoln, Obama has been criticized for not protecting
the weaker members of society.
Obama has a 0 percent pro-life voting record according to the National
Right to Life Committee. He has voted to spend taxpayer dollars to fund
groups that perform or promote abortions in other countries and voted
twice against parental notification and consent.

BARACK
OBAMA: SHEEP OR GOAT?
Pastor Rick Warren welcomes liberal Democratic senator Barack Obama to
his Saddleback pulpit.
by Rev. Rob Schenck
12/08/07
“All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will
separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the
goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the
left.” (Matthew 25:32-33 NKJV)
The very popular Christian website Crosswalk.com listed among
its top news stories of 2006 the controversial appearance of US Senator
Barack Obama in the pulpit of
Saddleback
Church. He spoke at the
invitation of Rick Warren, Saddleback’s pastor and author of
The Purpose Driven Life. At the
time, I issued one of the few formal public criticisms of Pastor Warren for
yielding “the sacred desk” to Mr. Obama. In addition to compromising the
doctrinal integrity of an Evangelical pulpit, I warned that the event could
be misread as both an endorsement of Obama’s
liberal religiosity and his potential presidential candidacy.
Warren
responded with assurances that he and Obama were only allies in the war
against HIV/AIDS in
Africa, and that he didn’t necessarily agree with the
Senator on every issue. But later, on national television,
Warren told CNN reporter Wolf Blitzer that
Obama “has it.” He went on to clarify that Obama has what it takes to be a
“good president” because he is a man of “good character.” Consider the
endorsement made.
