Public Use of the Internet at the Tacoma
Public Library
The Library's acquisition of Internet materials to
be made available to Library patrons does not include graphic materials
depicting full nudity and sexual acts which are portrayed obviously and
exclusively for sensational or pornographic purposes.
Access, view or disseminate information using
Library resources, including e-mail or Internet access, that is
pornographic,
obscene, child
pornography, harmful to minors, libelous, pervasively indecent or
vulgar, or advertising any product or service not permitted to minors.
The following
policy guidelines apply to the use of ALL INTERNET WORK STATIONS in the
Library; violationof any or all of these policies
may result in the loss of Internet usage privileges in the Library:
4. Users
are not permitted to displayany visual images
containing nudity,pornography, obscenity,
or graphic violence. Acceptability of screen displayswill be left to the discretion of supervisory Library staff.
4. You must respect the privacy and sensibilities
of others. Displaying or printing of images of child pornography, or those
which are sexually explicit, obscene,
or harmful to minors is expressly prohibited according to the
N.Y. U.C.C. Penal § 235.00-235.24
(Consolidated).
Activities which are not allowed
include, but are not limited to, unauthorized access to any network or
computer system; causing degradation of system performance; damaging
computer equipment or software; violation of copyright laws; and display of
graphic pornography
which is inappropriate for an open public environment.
