Survey Response:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
First of all I want to make it
clear that I am Pro Life. I also believe that
our public schools should teach students how to be a successful
contributing member to the community and the nation. In order to
succeed students need to have basic life skill. These skills are
knowing how to read, the ability to write and put thoughts on paper.
They need to have Math skills in order to create businesses. I also
believe that students need a good basis in not only U.S. History but
world history in order that they in the future will be able to avoid
the pitfalls that have fallen on our generation. Below is the
Statement I made that will be in the voters pamphlet in July.
Our local
schools are our most important community assets, and all children
deserve the best education possible. My desire to fill the
Battle Ground School director seat for District #1 is based on my
lifelong love of learning, and the understanding of its importance
in developing “life skills” in future generations.
During my 26-yr. career with the U.S. Coast Guard, I volunteered as
a reading coach in the various schools my two children attended.
Battle Ground became my home when I retired in 2014. I love
this community, and am looking forward to serving the students,
teachers and families in our area by incorporating their needs and
priorities into strong early education policies.
Teachers deserve respect and recognition for the essential work
they are doing, and I will be honored to use my knowledge and
listening skills to benefit them and our children. Your vote would
be much appreciated. Thank you!
